Performer / Composer / Arranger / Educator
James Brady is an Irish jazz trumpet player and brass specialist based in Glasgow, Scotland. His approach is steeped in the traditions of New Orleans and Brazilian jazz. James' career has taken him worldwide, collaborating and working with artists including Kate Nash, Liane Carroll, Yazz Ahmed, Orphy Robinson, Zoe Rahman, Laura Mvula, Charlotte Church, Will Young and Laurence Cottle. James has a passion for big band and regularly directs both professional and amateur big bands.
Also an award-winning composer, arranger and music copyist, James works internationally to create complex works for jazz and classical ensembles, and provide services to publishers, venues and ensembles with his fast and unique skillset. He has held PRSf composer in residence for Sage Gateshead and been a featured composer for Ivors Academy.
James is a passionate a highly experienced educator and works both with music education organisations and individuals in his pedagogical expertise which centres around improvisation and inclusivity.
