Arrangements on sale at SMP Press

One of the things I spend a lot of my time on is arranging - adapting exisiting compositions for new instrumentations and contexts. Sometimes I get commissioned by an ensemble or organisation - I've done work for the Royal Opera House, Wigmore Hall, London Chamber Orchestra and the Gabrieli Consort, amongst others - but sometimes I'm arranging things that I want to use in my teaching work, or just for fun. For a little while now, I've been publishing some of these arrangements through SMP Press, part of the global music publishing company Sheet Music Plus. I've just released a stack of new arrangements so thought this was a good moment to share what's there.

You can find my catalogue here.

At the moment, the arrangements available fall into two areas:

1) Arrangements for small brass groups (trio to quintet), created for ensembles of beginner and intermediate brass students. These have been honed through my teaching work with brass students. Many of the arrangements are for groups of trombones or other bass brass, but there are also trumpet trios and standard brass quintets. So far, the following are available:

A Whole New World (from Aladdin) - for trumpet trio

Seventy-Six Trombones - for trombone trio (bass clef)

Seventy-Six Trombones - for trombone trio (treble clef)

Christmas Conga - for trombone quartet (or other bass clef instruments)

The Look of Love - for trombone quartet (or other bass clef instruments)

Mandela - for trumpet quartet

Mandela - for trombone quartet

Mandela - for brass quintet

If Ye Love Me - for brass quintet

Ory's Creole Trombone - for trombone quartet

2) Flexible jazz ensemble arrangements. Intended to be the start of a longer series, these arrangements are designed to be playable by a rhythm section plus a variable number of front line players ('horns'), including optional vocals. The arrangements are numbered JBXXX and so far I've published:

JB001 Señor Blues (Cm version)

JB002 Señor Blues (Ebm version - original key)

JB003 L-O-V-E (higher key)

JB004 L-O-V-E (lower key)

I plan to add more to both series (and possibly branch out into other ensembles) in the future. If you have a group that needs something specific don't hesitate to get in touch!
