Long-time friends and collaborators Ed and James met in 2014 whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and are united in their love for open, breathing improvisation, combining Ed's richly pianistic approach with James' expressive trumpet and multi-instrumental performances. They perform repertoire encompassing both North American jazz standards and the music of Brazil, especially Bossa Nova.

As a duo, James and Ed have performed at venues including the Blue Lamp, Blue Arrow, Pianodrome and Edinburgh’s legendary Jazz Bar, Newcastle’s Globe and the Gala Theatre Durham.
